Dialogue between dimensions at the MDF Festival
The confrontation of electronics and music inspired by folk melodies is the starting point for one of the most exciting events during the MDF Festival. On September 24, in the white lobby of the Philharmonic, we will hear extraordinary chamber musicians who will seek harmony together, leading a dialogue with various musical inspirations. Everything is according to the idea and implementation of a team of international interns.

Inspirational artists and surprising musical combinations

During the Saturday festival concert, Messages Quartet will perform – a versatile and innovative chamber ensemble with Polish music at the centre of its interests. Called by critics "the best Polish string quartet to date", the Messages Quartet, although founded only in 2014, already gives concerts all over the world (Vienna, London, São Paulo, Bautzen, San Francisco) and can boast two albums enthusiastically received by critics. The ensemble consists of four highly talented instrumentalists: Małgorzata Wasiucionek (violin), Oriana Masternak (violin), Maria Shetty (viola) and Beata Urbanek-Kalinowska (cello), who have been repeatedly awarded and appreciated by critics for their interpretations. In their performances, the artists look for new meanings and, above all, a dialogue with the audience. As they emphasise, only in this way do they convey art that is vivid, emotional, and embedded in the present, although not always created or inspired by it.

The electronic part of the concert will be a specific counter to the performances of the female quartet manifested by Grzegorz Sadowski. He is a versatile artist, daily the leader of the viola group at the Philharmonic in Szczecin and a member of the ÉxQuartet, a well-known string quartet from Szczecin. As he says, he appreciates individuality – "I believe that this is one of the most important features of musicians in the times when most try to reproduce the recording, instead of finding their vision". This approach led him to his solo debut in 2021 and the release of his original album "Oder Music", inspired by the sounds of Szczecin.

MESSAGES QUARTET & GRZEGORZ SADOWSKI | The dialogue between dimensions will be the first joint venture of five extraordinary musical personalities.

Harmony and dialogue in music

This concert will also be a unique voice in the space of the MDF Festival. Young interns from all over Europe and invited artists will present their understanding of harmony in culture. Its roots and folk dimension will always be intertwined with the experimental, electronic dimension. It is this approach that we will hear and see on stage. By confronting their arrangements and performances, the artists will prove that the harmony of dialogue between what is primal and what is contemporary can exist forever.

Festival interns' struggles

Another aspect that makes this concert unique is the fact that it was created from scratch by interns participating in the international training project Music.Multimedia.Management. In the program lasting almost two years, they acquired knowledge and experience that allowed them to plan and implement a concert, which will also be the last in a series of events organised by the interns as part of the project. It will complete all thematic modules and translate several hundred hours of training and internships into specific programs and production activities.

We invite you on September 24 at 8:00 p.m. for the MESSAGES QUARTET & GRZEGORZ SADOWSKI | Dialogue between dimensions concert. Tickets at the price of PLN 10/20 are available at mdf.filharmonia.szczecin.pl/pl/events as well as eventim.pl and bilety.fm.
