Sound logotype of Szczecin - news about MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM
A swoosh, interlocking rings or golden arches. Logotypes surround us on every side. Even children are able to accurately guess which companies are behind the pictures. But what if the logo consisted of sounds? The MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM festival taking place on September 19-23 at the Philharmonic in Szczecin, crosses all boundaries. The concert on the fourth day of the festival, September 22, is entitled "Navigator – musical logos of the cityscape", and features a commissioned composition – we will design sound logotypes matching the largest squares in Szczecin! And in the evening – an afterparty! The Philharmonic will join forces with the Szczecin K4 Club. Rombanka Soundsystem – the oldest breakcore collective in Poland – will perform that evening!
"Navigator – musical logos of the cityscape" is composed of ten miniatures expressing the musical space of Szczecin and its various dimensions. Thanks to the educational purpose of the composition, all the parts will be somewhat humorous, emphasizing the symbolism of presenting a real place in the city's architecture through a musical means of expression – says Dorota Serwa, managing director of the Philharmonic in Szczecin.

Each composition will become the sound mark of the respective square in Szczecin – Plac Grunwaldzki, Orła Białego, Plac Rodła and others. The creators of the compositions are ten composers, both women and men, from all over Poland. Szczecin will have its representative composer in the form of Janusz Stalmierski, renown for his famous bugle-call in Szczecin.

The common idea in the music will be a short melodic and rhythmic motif used by all the composers, where the application, development and insertion of the motif into the sound body will be left to the creator’s invention. In this way, each piece will take take form of a RONDO with a five-piece polygenic texture, the result of five instrumental voices such as: flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn and bassoon – adds director Dorota Serwa.

The logotypes will be played by musicians from the FeelHarmony Quintet, who successfully perform contemporary music and are open to any of the challenges of new art. Thanks to the versatility of the ensemble, the composers will be able to reach unconventional means, including going beyond traditional concert productions. The concert "Navigator – musical logos of the cityscape" will take place on September 22 in the Chamber Hall of the Philharmonic in Szczecin at 16:00 and again at 18:00.

The fourth day of the festival will close with a great afterparty at Szczecin's cultural loft – Club K4. Rombanka Soundsystem, the oldest breakcore collective in Poland and one of the oldest continuously operating in Europe, will perform. The collective, founded in 2007 in Szczecin associates producers, DJs and promoters of D.i.Y. culture, oriented to more serious types of electronic music, such as breakcore, hardcore, and experimenta. The group deals with socializing music content under the name of Turn It Off Recordz, and organizes events, both official ones in clubs throughout the country and a large part of the Old Continent, as well as underground free parties and teknivals.

Information about ticket prices and dates of sale will soon be available on the website page devoted to the festival.
