Workshop day at the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival
To create, inspire, develop your creative potential – such slogans will dominate the fourth day of the MDF Festival 2018 – MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM. The program for September 22nd features unique workshops for children concerning creating musical instruments ... from junk, as well as workshops on urban design addressed to art school students and graduates. In the evening, during the afterparty at the Szczecin loft of culture – Club K4, the final in a series of workshops for DJs will take place.
The assumption of almost every festival, regardless of the theme and audience, is joint fun, joy and stimulation to interact between the participants. Such an idea is also close to the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM festival, with particular emphasis on creative inspiration as well as education and sharing of practical knowledge. For this reason, the program could not miss out events that open the minds of adults, and allow children to realize the imagination in practice.
A great example of this are the workshops on creating musical instruments from recycled materials, intended for children aged 9-12. – Instruments created from reusable packaging by children will be used in a joint performance of a composition written specifically for the needs of the project. The instruments will be tested in various places of the philharmonic building, to stimulate the children's imagination and feeling of the surrounding spaces. Workshops of this type develop creative thinking and allow the youngest to understand the complex issues related to acoustics and spatial sound - says Agata Kolasińska, head of the Center for Education at the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin. The workshops for children will be run by the Koda Kids group, specializing in organizing workshops for children in the field of architecture and design, and take place on September 22nd at 10.00 am in the foyer of the Philharmonic in Szczecin.

Art school students and graduates will be presented with a workshop in English on urban design – "Sense Szczecin – building dreams for your city" led by Trine Blicher Folmer, a well-known Danish architect and owner of the Ghetto studio, with topics dealing with three aspects of city planning: physical, social and mental. The host will take the participants of the workshop for a walk around Szczecin, during which the needs of the city related to the given space will be discussed together with possible solutions and improvements. The aim of the workshop includes building an engaged community of creators who will actively and consciously undertake activities aimed at improving the quality of the surrounding urban space. The workshops "Sense Szczecin – building dreams for your city" will begin on September 22nd at 11.00 am in the rehearsal room of the Szczecin Philharmonic, and follow into the urban space of Szczecin. The classes will be held in English.

In the evening of September 22nd during the festival afterparty in Szczecin's cultural loft
Klub K4 (address: ul. Kolumba 4), we host the finale of a series of workshops organized for DJs. Guests who decide to spend an evening at the K4 Club will be able to hear the workshop participants in action – each of them will present their own set. The main point of the afterparty program will be the oldest breakcore collective in Poland, Rombanka Soundsystem, as well as a special guest whose name we will reveal soon.

The series of workshops for DJs comprises three sessions scheduled for August 20-24 , September 10-14 and September 18-22. Their goal is teaching with an emphasis on the most popular methods of mixing music for performance purposes, so-called DJ sets. The workshops are intended for art school pupils, students and graduates, as well as those involved in musical activities who are interested in new technological and electronic solutions in this field. Classes commence at the Philharmonic in Szczecin and finish with the finale at Klub K4 on the fourth day of the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM festival, and will be conducted by Szymon Karpierz – a DJ and radio host from Szczecin with extensive experience in working with children and teenagers.

Information about ticket prices and dates of sale will be available on the website devoted to the festival mdf.filharmonia.szczecin.pl.
