Another nomination for Managing Director Dorota Serwa

Showing interesting people shaping the life of local communities in our journal and online portal is the greatest pleasure in everyday work and our journalistic duty – says Krzysztof Nałęcz, editor-in-chief of Głos Szczeciński. – Our journalists nominate candidates for the Personality of the Year title because it is they who are describing the most important events on a daily basis. And the heroes of their reports are people. Among them remarkable characters, because only such people change reality.

Last year, Director Dorota Serwa became "Szczecinian of the Year 2016". She received the award because, according to the organizer, "As a director, she carried the institution through modernization and put new challenges ahead of it, including expanding the educational offer for children." The Philharmonic in Szczecin combines traditional activities – symphony concerts with other genres. The ice palace hosts folk, jazz and even electronic music (...) The work and dedication of Dorota Serwa has made the Philharmonic a true symbol of the city and one of the favorite places for Szczecin citizens."

In 2017, the album "Karłowicz.Philharmonic.Szczecin" was also appreciated. Our orchestra recorded it together with Łukasz Borowicz and Bartłomiej Nizioł. The album was nominated for a Fryderyk award in the "album of the year – symphonic and concert music" category and to the prestigious International Classical Music Awards – one of the most important awards in the world of classical music. We were also very pleased with the news that in the Polish Radio Two Program called "Kto słucha, nie błądzi, czyli Płytowy Trybunał Dwójki" (in English: “He Who Hears, Does not get Lost”) hosted by violinist Agata Szymczewska, music critic Dorota Kozińska and music journalist Kacper Miklaszewski chose it as the best recording of "Violin Concert in A major, Op. 8" by Mieczysław Karłowicz, a track from our album" Karłowicz.Philharmonic.Szczecin ".
