And suddenly music appeared. Stunning! It flowed from the White Hart corner pub ... It was the moment when I first discovered music, for the first time I got to know its rare beauty whose enthusiast I had become ever since. Chaplin.
We all know Charlie Chaplin as a great comedian, director, writer and producer, but not everyone is aware of his talents as a composer and the fact that he composed most of the music for his films.
Phillippe Quint discovered and recorded thirteen original arrangements of Chaplin's compositions. Then he developed their concept himself, transforming them into a form of almost vaudeville. Chaplin’s Smile is not only music but also a multimedia show containing photos and shots from the most iconic movies. Chaplin's music is also intertwined with the stories of the composer's friendship with Debussy, Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff and Gershwin. All this is waiting for us during the concert just a few months after the grand celebration of the 130th anniversary of Chaplin's birth.
Quint is an award-winning violinist currently performing in various concert halls from Gewandhaus in Leipzig to Carnegie Hall in New York. He plays Antonio Stradivari's "Ruby" violin from 1708.
