Jonathan Stockhammer
In just a few years, Jonathan Stockhammer made a name for himself in the world of opera, symphonic repertoire and contemporary music. As a conductor, he has a great talent for presenting concerts and working on an equal footing with various performers – whether they are young musicians and rappers or stars such as Imogen Heap or Pet Shop Boys.
He has been a regular guest at the Opéra de Lyon since his first appearance there in 1998, where he most recently conducted Ravel's L'heure Espagnole. In 2009, he was a conductor at the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, Proserpina and Wolfgang Rihm's Deus Passus. In 2013, he debuted at the New York Opera with Thomas Adès' Powder Her Face. In 2016, he made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in the new production of Peter Eötvös' Tri Sestri (Three Sisters). In 2019, he made his debut at the Zurich Opera House with Michael Pelzel's Last Call. After the new production of Philip Glass's Satyagrah, directed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui at the Komische Oper Berlin and Theater Basel, he opened the 2019/2020 season in Basel with Luigi Nono's Al gran sole carico d'amore.
