Mikołaj Rykowski
Mikołaj Rykowski graduated from the University of Adam Mickiewicz (musicology, 2003) and the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (clarinet, 2000). In 2011, he defended his doctoral dissertation devoted to the phenomenon of Harmoniemusik (the eighteenth-century practice of wind instrument ensembles). In 2019, he obtained the degree of habilitated doctor based on a series of publications under the joint title: Franz Xaver Scharwenka – an artist in the light of the glocalisation process.
In 2016, his book entitled Harmoniemusik – pieces for wind instruments in the mirror of the classicism era was released. In 2018, a monograph entitled The Polyphony of Life. Franz Xaver Scharwenka's Biography came out. Mikołaj Rykowski's academic interests include globalisation processes and their impact on musical creativity. The fruit of this type of consideration is the development of a collective work concept entitled Music Glocalization: Tradition and Innovation in the Digital Age (edited by D.G. Hebert and M. Rykowski, published by Cambridge Scholar Publishing).

Currently, Mikołaj Rykowski is the vice-rector for research projects, evaluation and promotion of the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. He is also involved in popularising activities: he conducts concerts at the Poznań Philharmonic and is a co-author of scenarios for the Speaking Concerts series.
